Dawlish Town finally disposed of a resilient Chard Town last night at the fourth attempt in their FA Vase first round match, gaining a narrow 3-2 win after extra time, writes Nathan Woolford. In a ding-dong cup-tie captain Chris Slough's deflected shot in the 115th minute sealed the Seasiders' place in the second round where they will face Bideford at Sandy Lane on Saturday. It means another clash between great friends and former Torquay United teammates Chris Myers (Dawlish boss) and Sean Joyce (Bideford boss). Seasiders' player-manager Myers was relieved to finally see his side in the next round and said: "It was a tough old game but the lads battled away and showed good character after Chard came back into it. "I'm delighted with the attitude of the players. We were not on form tonight but we got the lads up for it. I think that after the three games played we deserved to go through."
