Dawlish Discussion

Having had 3 rather expensive Bikes stolen this last week (totalling £700),we went down to our nice new police office to report it.

So, armed with a copy of the cctv disc,clearly showing the two culprits entering the premises and removing the bikes(even using the pir light to aid the assembly of one) and a possible name given by independent people who had viewed the disc,we thought it a good idea to get some sort of result.

What a complete waste of time. To say the guy seemed less than interested would be an understatement,first suggesting it may be a passer by oportunistic thing (yes we all go for walk at 20 to one in the morning round other peoples houses) then basically fobbing us off with the card to ring the relevent answerphone message.

Okay so we should have had them locked away,but where these bikes were stored is not on the public highyway,they werent in full view and actually not easy to to get to,but whatever,these skanks had no right to go searching for them and steal them.

So the actual footage of someone committing a crime, and the possible name of the local skank and his mate that committed it,counts for zip,not even a"we'll look into it. All we received were questions about what links we had to the possible suspect,and how we knew the name,oh and,the location is wide open area so anyone could have got them. and because we couldnt give them the frame numbers there and then,we were on to a loser.

And we wonder why the area is a free run for the crooks that run round with apparent impunity.

I certainly wont bother reporting anything again

Shameful, make a complaint. Attitudes don't change unless confronted.

Also, why not go to the press with your story? That way you'll be making both your complaint and experience public and Authorities don't like bad press.

Write to Inspector Chris Shaw, Teignmouth Police Station, they have a letter box, not the cop chop opposite Boots

Take what you have over to Middlemoor HQ and demand to speak to a CID officier. Its your right. Make sure you get a crime number and send this with a copy of all your evidence to your insurance company.
