Has anyone had pushy, annoying salespeople from Talk-Talk knock on their door? I had one knock on my door on Sunday evening and it was difficult to get rid of him. He started out by saying I had to tell him who my current broadband provider was and how much I was paying. He keep saying 'so you would rather stay with BT than change to Talk-Talk and pay less'. I had to tell him 5 times I wasn't interested. Eventually he got in a mood and stormed off. Remember you don't have to tell these people anything, they are not trying to help you, they just want a sales commission. My advice - if a Talk-Talk salesperson knocks on your door, tell them you are not interested and then close the door!
i agree with what you are saying, but since ive switched to talk talk ive saved £20 a month from what i was paying bt
I find that Talk Talk in particular teach their sales staff to be very pushy, the other day one suggested I talk to my neighbours as "75% of them are with Talk Talk" - load of rollocks. Every single person I know who has switched to them has had problems - why would I then sign up? Their are lots of providers, shop around.....
My neighbour is constantly cut off and the free phone numbers dont include all. Its cheap you get what you pay for. I was stopped in Torquay shopping centre a while ago by them, as you say very pushy and they argued why I should move to them as they are cheaper. I said in a nice clear voice 'Talk talk is the best if you want to be cut off!!'
I once signed up with them as they promised they were cheaper or would pay me £200. I had endless problems with them. First of all they cut me off on a bank holiday and when I contacted them they told me the bank was closed that day so they couldnt take payment! Everytime you need to contact them you get passed around from person to person if they cant sort out your problem and then cut you off! Then when I moved house they sent me a bill for the new owners. When I refused to pay someone elses bill they passed it on to a debt collection agency even though I had proof of the move. When I contacted the debt collection agency and proved to them I had changed address they passed it on to another debt collection agency! Now when they pester me at my door I have great pleasure in closing it on them. Several of my friends have experienced similar problems. Dont touch them with a barge pole! They werent any cheaper any way but even if they were I would sooner pay BT more money for peace of mind and a better service.
Well talk talk, came to my door about an hour ago, to inform me that the telephone exchange had been upgraded, and had i recieved my letter, to say that everyone in my area was intitled to free broadband(i right). After pointing to the no sales poster on my door and explaining many times that i was not intrested, he asked for my name...apparently to take my name os their call list. The young man was rather annoyed when i refused to give him my name(i dont want my line hijacked, as they did to my parents) and told me that i would continue to get visits from talk talk. Something needs to be done about this company. They are beyond a joke.
Talk Talk offer the world, nice and cheap when things are going fine , but once you have a problem they are a nightmare. You can spend days trying to report a fault, it takes ages to sort it out and if you try to leave them, its ny impossible.
What i suggest is you pick up some Jehovas Witness pamplets and have them ready by the door. When a salesman knocks , give them a leaflet and then start preeching to them , even offer them in to talk about religion. They'll be off like a shot.
@ J Warrener, that made me snigger. I have a friend who told me that to deter the JW's I should welcome them in with 'Come in, come in, we're just about to sacrifice the goat!'
I never had the bottle and can't be rude to them, not in my nature but I like the idea that one day I just may don a bloody apron and go to the door with a knife and sharpener in hand.....
Two healthy Dobermans usually work for me when we have cold callers.
Indirectly they all work for BT anyway. No one else has the lines and exchanges network apart from the cable companies and they are only small fry by comparison.
I know plenty of people who switched to Talk Talk and all are VERY unhappy at disconnections and solving problems is a NIGHTMARE.
People only compare prices but don't compare what they get for their money, below is a brief extract from Talk Talk fair usage policy.
exceeds the usage we would typically expect on the Customers current package, we reserve the right to upgrade customers to a package more suited for their usage or, in extreme cases, suspend or terminate their ability to access Talk Talk broadband. We also manage the use of file sharing applications
ISPs such as BT and Virgin tell you exactly what restrictions apply for high volume downloading such as file sharing, "We also manage the use of file sharing applications" means we slow you down to less than a dial up connection.
As with all things, you get what you pay for. Whoever you choose, read the Fair Usage Policy BEFORE signing up.
@jo2mcm, the talk-talk person that came to my door said the exact same thing 'exchange upgraded and had i received my letter'.
They are obviously SCUM and need to be reported.
The next time one comes to my door I will listen to them, show interest and get them to explain it all at great length, to waste as much of their time as possible, then right at the end say no thanks and close the door.
That's what they deserve.
