As ive not had the chance to post and didnt want to put one at the end of a very long thread full of moaning, i thought i would start a new one. I would just like to say what a fantastic week it was. Unfortunately i missed the raft race, but heard it was another good one. I thought "its a knockout" was very entertaining and im sure a few woke up the following day with bumps and bruises, especially the stunning girl whos face got buried in the dirt when she fell whilst carrying a bloke on her back. Although bleeding , head swollen and maybe a broken nose , she still carried on, good on her. Pram race was excellent with alot of thought gone into the contenders prams. Airshow was excellent, shame the tide was in ,restricting some peoples views, but a short walk to Holcome Hill and the view was excellent. Carnival itself was excellent on what was a damp night. With the other events like the football, gun running(it would be good to see an adult gun run again), Wakefields excellent majorettes,Sidmouths Dancing dogs(should have been called dog owners as the dogs didnt want to know and ran wild).I missed Dawlish has got talent(was there any?)apart from the tasty ladies taking part in events all week. Great to have the beer tent(which i hear paid a large amount of money to be on the lawn). Walking in what do i spot"St Austells Tribute" it was like a dream come true. Hopefully the Boathouse will regularly have it. A big thanks to the committee and volunteers who worked there socks off all week, without them there would be no carnival. Good to see so many of the Dawlish community taking part, especially the 16-25 age group that entered events night after night. The oldies of our town are quick to attack this age group yet are always the ones that enter events through the year. The carnival attracts large numbers to the town and those from outside can be heard saying "i wish we could have one, you can see the pride they have in their town and their community" something sadly lacking in towns and cities across Britain. So well done Dawlish and its townsfolk , something we should all be proud of.
