Tough decisions ahead for Myers

Player-manager Chris Myers admits he's got some trough decisions to make ahead of tonight's game away to Elmore in Division One of the Screwfix Direct Western League. With midfielders Chris Slough and Gary Head available after missing the last two games, the temptation is to include both in the starting line-up as the Sandy Lane side seek to stretch their unbeaten league record to six games. Myers is mindful though of the players he may have to relegate to the substitutes bench after last Saturday's sterling performance when Dawlish held second-in-the-table Calne Town to a goalless draw at home. "Whatever decision or decisions I make is going to be tough, and I'm having to give it serious thought," he said. "The lads who came in last Saturday did a great job in perhaps our best performance of the season, but Slough and Head were part of the midfield to start the season with and they are experienced. "It's also a local derby, so you can take it that Elmore will be up for it just as much as we are. They lost 5-2 at home to Saltash on Saturday, but I don't hold too much store by that result, because Saltash have a couple of more than useful strikers who won the game for them. "We also did the double over Elmore last season, but, again, that means nothing because they will have made changes to the squad since then." The Dawlish squad will be: Rock, Fields, Fenner, Raybould, Myers, Slough, Butterworth, Heath, Shearer, Taylor, Griffiths, Heath, Smith, Kendall. Dawlish Town's plan to create a Centre of Football Excellence for Teignbridge took a step forward on Sunday when the club's newly formed under-16's played their first competitive match in the Millers Countywide South Hams and District League
