I have just read some very disturbing comments about Dawlish in your Dawlish Carnival forum, i will be visiting with my family for the first time in the school holidays, I am quite disturbed to read the town is virtually inhabited only by drug addicts, alcoholics and robbers, please are there any good points
Because we are a small town it overaccentuates what is most probably a small scale problem. Dont worry perfectly safe for a family holiday. we do tend to go over the top on here sometimes
Totally agree. It is because the town is so safe that the small number of drinkers, etc. are noticed by local people in a way that they would not be in most places. Most of the time they are more of a nuisance to each other than to anyone else. Street robbery is almost unknown. Those of us who have come from cities love it in Dawlish and Teignmouth(where I live.) I have little doubt (weather permitting0 that you will have a good time.
dawlish is a brilliant place, as has been mentioned , the smallest crime is blown out of all proportion due to, crime being so low. You'll love it here .
Being able to wander around a town where you see people feel safe leaving their doors and windows open says it all. Please ignore the one or two on here who delight in making mountains out of molehills.
Thank you all for your positive replies, really looking forward to our visit, planning to stay 2 weeks, possibly more if weather kind
