Dawlish is certainly in the news today! This article on the BBC website clearly shows once again just what a great contribution that CCTV has made to the crime-fighting and crime-prevention efforts of the local constabulary: Nearly 600 arrests have been made in part of south Devon in the past year as a result of a local CCTV system, its operators say. There are 48 cameras in the Teignbridge district and they operate in towns including Bovey Tracey, Chudleigh, Dawlish and Newton Abbot. The service is run by the district council, police, and a security firm. Store detectives are also involved. Operators said that £60,000-worth of stolen goods had also been recovered.
