Who's idea was it to erect that monstrosity of a fence on the lawn side of the new duck enclosure? I couldn't believe it when i walked down the strand and went onto the lawn to take a closer look. What an eyesore, you sit on the seats by the stream and instead of being able to watch the ducks and wildlife you are staring at this thing!!!!!!!!!! Walking up the Brunswick is a different matter altogether the fence there is acceptable. Why couldn't the same type of fence be used on both sides?????
Yes, even I thought exactly the same. Well, they had to justify the price. Maybe it will turn into transparent wood. LOL Maybe the 'Brunswick' helped fund it, so as to get more people in there.
Off topic Ziggy, did you go to the Smugs for the Beer Fest? I walked out, as service and info was poor, and it was (IMO) NOT very well organised. A beer fest is a beer fest, not a side show for a restaurant. The smugs is NOT a pub, its a restaurant that sells beer, and is the wrong establishment to hold a beer fest. The Investigator DID try, but cannot support poorly organised events in such a poor environment.
Great minds think alike investigator re the duck enclosure. I did not go to the Smugs Beer Fest, not my scene I'm more of a fine wine person.
Yea we are not pleased about this! What is it with the council do they not overlook progress of projects? We really do need some up and coming fresh bllod in this council young people with more up and go.
As the beer fest was advertised as Friday saturday and Sunday , i went in friday lunch. It didnt start until friday night. I was not amused.
What a shame J.Warrener! Where did you get your information from? If you had looked on the Events page of this website you would have noticed it didn't start until 7pm on the Friday.
The leaflet in the smugs. it gave the 3 dates and mentioned a band coming on at 7-30 or 8pm on friday. we stayed for a meal and whilst we were eating , numerous people came in and then walked out again for the same reason. as for the comment"in the duck enclosure".......yes and i ate roast duck
@ J Warrener. Yes, I walked out on the Saturday afternoon. IMO, the Smugs is the wrong place for a beer fest, as you cannot classify it as a pub anymore. Its a restaurant that sells beer, and not a pub that sells food. A good idea would be to have a marquee on the Lawn and have the fest in there. Our wonderful hard working council can organise it, so then we will see if they CAN organise a Pi$$ up in a brewery. This will also attract a larger number of out of season visitors and the council can also rent out space on the lawn for caterers, sideshows etc, and will attract buskers and other licensed musicians and entertainers. OK, security. They will be earning enough money to get a private security firm to control the 100000 visitors it will bring in. LOL The Investigator.
