From the Dawlish Gazette (who have done a superb 4-page special pull-out about the biggest football match in the history of our town): OFFICIALS of Dawlish Town have called on the town to get behind the football club as they look to go one step closer to reaching Wembley for the first time in 14 years. With Dawlish’s home gates averaging 82 in all competitions this season, there is a real danger that Town supporters will be outnumbered by their Gresley counterparts on Saturday (3pm) as the East Midlands Counties League side are expecting to bring up to 150 fans to Sandy Lane for the FA Vase fourth round tie. From a financial point of view, chairman Dave Fenner is pleased that the visitors are bringing such a large following, but he is hoping residents will also make the effort to get to the game as the Seasiders bid to reach the last 16. ‘It’s an important game for the club, and an important game for local football really, so come and see what we do,’ urged the chairman, whose son Craig is a first-team regular at centre-back.

Great to see the Gazette getting behind the team. Perhaps its finally dawning on them , how much a successful team, can help the town financially. 150 people in the Town at a time of year that is usually fairly dead is a major boost . It is also putting the name of the Town on the Map nationally. Hopefully some of those from Derbyshire will re-visit in the future.

What a game. What an advert for the town of Dawlish and for non-league football! Dawlish Town 4-4 Gresley FC Dawlish down to 10 men and losing 1-3, managed to fightback to lead 4-3 into the 5th minute of time added on. Hearts broken though when the visitors equalised with what looked like an o.g. Extra time started but didn't finish as the ref acandoned the game due to waterlogging with 10 mins of extra time left. Replay in South Derbyshire next Saturday. Not sure if the Dawlish team will be staying over up there on Friday and Saturday, like Gresley did down here. Well played the 10 men - we're in the wuarter-final draw! If we keep all 11 on the park next week, we'll do em.
