The judge has ruled in favour of Tesco, who argued that Sainsbury should not have been granted planning permission for the Shutterton Bridge supermarket. I assume that Sainsbury will themselves appeal and that Tesco will resubmit their own rejected plan for a Ladysmile superstore. This is going to drag on forever isn't it?
Thank you for that.. It's amazing how Tesco always get their way, Sainsburys would be nicer for Dawlish. I cant be doing with either of them and their points cards! .. Im still going to Asda!! Yes it will drag on and on and on!!
tdc have to hear both applications again !!!! according to the herald, the store may get built in what shall i say 2012!!!!!
Tesco misread the public mood when they applied to build at Sandy Lane and they are now being vindictive and trying to stop anybody else being successful. They are such a big organisation that they think they can bully their way into doing anything they want to. I have recently been to Bristol and seen how a large Tesco dictates the market for the surrounding area. Be aware that if they move into a town they will give you what they want to sell you, not what you want to buy. The people of Dawlish gave a clear answer when asked; this has now been ignored. We can draw our own conclusions.
Has anybody seen the MASSIVE Tesco recently completed on the outskirts of Crediton, it will certainly kill the town shopping area
Everywhere they open up, they seem to kill the surrounding local shops and town centres. then they put the prices up due to lack of competition.
i dont want to go out of dawlish shopping, so the quicker it happens the better.youwill not prevent the monopolies these companies have and the ladys mile site is within the guidelines that were set, being closer to the town.
If Tesco had opted for Lady's Mile in the first place instead of trying to concrete over the playing fields they might have been more successful and not put people's backs up. It all smacks of sour grapes to me. In the meantime the people of Dawlish are missing out and have to drive a few miles to visit a supermarket. Surely not very eco-friendly?
