A lovely afternoon for a walk, I set off up towards the Exeter road when approaching the turning to Sandy Lane i was appalled by the rubbish and falling leaves on the pavements when speaking to a resident i was told the council never sweep or clear the area just cut the grass and blow it down the drains. Moving on to the Rockstone area I thought i would sit on a seat overlooking the sea before going any further. WELL i had to search for a seat which was safe to sit on, one had no seat at all the others were in an appalling state of repair. Do our local councillors ever take a walk and notice these things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you tried the recently repaired bridge in the manor, repaired with what looks like plywood and then painted, its lethal in the rain and somebody will get seriously hurt. I have brought it to councils notice so hopefully it will be rectified soon.
Walked through the Manor last Sunday week and commented on how dangerous the bridge was. I didn't realise it had been repaired. An accident waiting to happen. Lets hope the council have enough money in their kitty for a compensation pay out in the event of it happening!!!!!!!!
After the Manor House is sold and they get fed up with using different locations for council meetings the hidden agenda will pop up, rebuild new council 0ffices over the river near the kids playing area in the Manor
"I believe that they are going to be using the old salvation army centre" Thats very true, but, I think you will find that it will be used for general office work, but Council Meetings are to be held at different locations, that's why I mentioned a hidden agenda as they will get fed up with being in a different place each month.
do people realise that you can hire the manor for function etc if more people done this maybe the manor wouldnt b running at a loss,i really resent it when all people do is have a go at the councilers do not judge all with same brush and most of councilers past and present done a lot of good for this town if only people would realise that our local councilers do not get paid for being on the council and give up there own time for the good of us.sorry but this is very close to my heart and i really think that people should not sit and moan but maybe stand themselfs
Jacky, Perhps you should stand and see what really goes on from the inside then maybe you might become a little more sceptical.
for ur information user i do know whAt goes on in council meetings as my late dad was mayor of dalwish 4 times on the county council and teignbridge council for over 20 years,so i think i have a bit more insight than u think i have,
You will also know that if a councillor wishes to make a complaint about a councils actions to the ombudsman he/she is not allowed to. I know this to be a fact as a friend of mine is a Councillor in Exeter and tried to make an official complaint which the Ombudsman refused to look at for the reason I just stated. You will also be aware the most Ombudsman are retired Council Chief Exectutive's, how independent is that??
This my friend, is one of the many things that I, the Investigator, will be putting on my website. No matter how trivial things are, then let me know. This needs to be addressed. I need to gather more information and get some photos uploaded to my website, then I, the Investigator, will show how things do NOT get done in this once wonderful town. Look at my replies to the other top 6, 7, or 8 posts in this forum. The Investigator has spoken.
