An old item on the "Times On Line"(2007)puts Torquay number eight on the list of the top ten seaside towns. Because it was a "Big-scale seaside admirably reinventing itself for the 21st century." What is, or should, Dawlish be doing to bring its own population and visitors into the 21st century?
OK so this was a hard one, it's always easier to be critical than constructive... I believe tourists and locals alike are tired of the old fairy lights and funny hats seaside towns. So, scrap the random strings of coloured lights along the brook, and seafront. Then hire a scenic lighting company to design a display on the lawn and seafront that really wows. This would draw people to a unique Dawlish feature, summer and winter, also revitalising businesses in the area.
