So, summarizing Roy/PJD,
Labour have misruled 1997 to present.
Tories misruled 1979 to 1997.

Prior to that were the glorious (Crisis, what crisis?) years of Labour from 1975 following on from three day week Tories from 1970.

Further back, we had Labour from 1964 with devaluation, elected after 13 years of Tory misrule.

Perhaps one of the posters who hold strong views should offer themselves as a benevolent dictator. Do as the parties do:
promise anything that sounds good, the closer to meaningless marketing bullshit the better. (e.g. Vote "for change" or "a better tomorrow" or "tax reform" or "a bright future" or "a new Britain")
When you get in, continue to do as the parties do, i.e. do as you please.

What's the worst the electorate could do? Replace you after five years.
