Busy catching up with the news, I see that one that surprisingly slipped through the net on here is the praise that Wally Protheroe has received for raising over £2000 for charity.

I quote:
Retired Mayor of Dawlish Wally Protheroe has been praised by a charity for raising more than £2,000.

Cllr Protheroe nominated The Helen Foundation as his charity of choice for his year of office.

Set up in memory of an aspiring young actress from Shaldon, Helen Kirk, the charity gives children a chance to pursue their dreams within the arts world.

At a ceremony in May, he handed over a cheque for £2,487.

Roger Kirk, Helen's dad and co founder of the charity, said: "It's a superb result from his year long fund-raising. Wally has been one of the Foundation's staunchest supporters."

Well done to Wally and to everyone who contributed to this very worthwhile charity.
