The BBC has decided not to broadcast an appeal on behalf of victims of the recent volcanic eruption which has left thousands dead and injured and tens of thousands homeless in South Devon.
A spokesman for BBC Radio Devon said, “The BBC must retain its impartiality. Many people believe that volcanoes are acts of God and that we should not interfere with His will by helping the victims. Others believe that volcanoes are a natural process and that every effort should be made to bring aid to those in need. It would be inappropriate for the BBC to appear to be partial to one side or the other.”

I think they should stop serving Gaza drinks - why should the beeb run a campaign to assist the rehabilitation?

I understand what Don is getting at but look at one of the articles on the BBC website today re Hamas and the aid that has been sent

Amosite,
I did not intend it as a hoax, rather as a stimulus to thought.

Cassandra,
I have read the article and it is a further tragedy for those in need if Hamas have stolen the aid or even taken it to distribute themselves.

However, that was not the issue prompting the BBC's decision at the beginning of last week.
