With Woolworth going out of business, who will want the Dawlish store?
Would an indoor market like at Newton Abbot work.. guess everyone would object.
Heck, now the pub next to the post office is closed .. mind that'll teach em to be tacky with bouncers and football! Oh for an all round 'nice pub' for all ages.. and football free!
The Woolworths chain will be taken over. If Dawlish looses Woolies and another similar outlet is not put in its place the town and other small towns will have nothing to offer.
There are three pubs up for sale in Dawlish including the Landsdowne £1,250,000 The White Hart £49,000 and another.
I have heard that Tesco owns One Stop and is buying The Hole in the Wall and will make one large store, which will be good for the town. This though is probably Chinese Whispers
Yes Tesco owns One Stop and that is a possible idea and should keep people happy! How strange it is the big 'superdupa' stores everyone seems to love are in trouble, just maybe the small shops will have the last laugh with few or if any staff to pay.
A indoor market, Great.. like that idea.
we already have a outdoor one!
local traders on a few days a week.. give newton a run for there money ;) lol
I believe co-op actually own the building that woolworths are in, so they are the most likely to do something with it.........
A branch of Spearmint Rhino would be perfect for the Woolees location.
Plus its a place for local people, where local lads can fritter their wages and local girls can find gainful employment
Great idea, I'm all for turning this town around by bringing in new money and a new class of people. Could always have a memory of Woolies....a pick and mix dept? What about a special councilor VIP area?
You may even get too see Roys cock in there. It would be better to let Roddie loose in a place like that than leaving it to get dusty at home on the mantle piece.
I saw today W H Smith doing 75% off in Teignmouth, that does not look too good to me. You simply cant do that and pay staff and the rents etc. I admit I do buy books and Cds online. Thing is with books in shops, people handle and read them, then put them back on the shelf.
