A FORMER Torquay police officer has been charged with theft, perverting the course of justice and obtaining personal data.
John Fleet, 28, from Warbro Road, appeared at Plymouth Magistrates last week facing five charges of obtaining personal data contrary to the Data Protection Act.
He entered no pleas.
Yesterday police revealed the he has now also been charged with two further offences, one of theft and one of perverting the course of justice.
He now faces a total of seven offences.
The ex-police officer was charged at Exeter Police Station on Wednesday night in relation to the allegations of theft and perverting the course of justice.
A police spokesman said Fleet is charged with stealing a betting slip to the value of £59.21 contrary to Section 1 of the Theft Act between July 30 and August 2 in Old Torquay Road, Paignton.
He was suspended on full pay until the time of his resignation.
Fleet has been remanded on unconditional bail until his next appearance on October 1 when he will appear in relation to all seven allegations.
What's to expose? He's been found guilty and will be punished. And so he bloody well should be.
Shirley his prosecution demonstrates that the "system" is not untouchable?
