Spoke with Tom Scobie of the gazette/post yesterday re bar and disco for yoof centre. he didn't seem to believe me but I eventually guided him to the revised plans on the TDC website. He was going to check it out with TDC.

This may well be the first test of of the independence and attitude of our local reporter given the well publicised links to his lib-dem past and links with Wally P. If he fails then it will be a sad time for the only real paper covering our town.

I gave him a big story on a plate (worthy of being covered by a national paper (well the Daily Mail anyway); bar for yoof centre!) But he didn't seem all that enthusiastic.

Dawlish TC have already passed the plans without objection so it is up to TDC! Oh my God, that means we will get a night club on Sandy Lane. Bye Bye Seasider bar.

Do you mean to say; we are going to get a bit of invetigative journalism?

I am not surprised by his lack of enthusiasm and you can guarantee the first thing he did was run this by his Lib Dem master Protheroe, to concoct deflection, ensuring this important issue remains sidelined.

In the meantime they will continue with more pressing matters, such as vacuous photo-shoots, posing with, children, animals and hats.

Dawlish had better wake up soon and flood Teignbridge with complaints about this drug/alcoholic centre, otherwise the children of Dawlish will be paying the price for the ineptitude of Dawlish Town Council.

As Dawlish councillors are members of the self appointed quango DAY they must be aware of the new plans for a Sandy Lane Nightclub for Teignbridge Disaffected Youth and fully support it! Linking bad kids with good kids with alcoholic bar next to kids playground and nursery does not seem the brightest of ideas!

Dawlish Town Council feign interest in the young people of our town in order to facilitate their pet projects so they can hand out contracts in return for brown envelopes.

This drug/alcoholic centre is an absolute insult to the youth of Dawlish.

I spoke to one of the workman today as they were finishing the skate park. He then went on to tell me someone was testing the ground adjoining the skate park were the proposed new centre is to be built.
He went on to say the original plans were for a single story youth centre then some money became available from another source to enable it to become a two storey centre.
So there will be youngsters supposedly leaving the skate park at 9.30pm and youngsters coming out of the bar/disco at 10pm.
Do you honestly believe they will all disperse and head off home!

Could someone give me the web site for the propposed plans for the Dawlish Youth Centre.
From what I have read there is going to be a youth centre and a new community centre and perhapes that is where the confusion is regarding a bar and disco.
As for a drug/alcohol abuse centre I think this would be a good idea giving the amouont of drug users and alcoholics in the town.
My children although never having taken drugs new plenty of young teenagers who did. They have now moved to York and tell me there are less drug users there than Dawlish. This is a problem that needs addressing
