I have a poor unpredictable moth of a mind, taking me unbidden from one light to another. My keyboard fingers mean no harm, but judder, some times making serious points in a joking manner, some times the opposite. Oh, and I talk to myself.

(Flutter)
Why, I wondered, do some of the regular posters bother replying to each other when they can never reach agreement and are likely to be insulted for their pains?

(Flutter)
Why don’t you ask why they don’t produce evidence of the claims they make, why they don’t pursue these issues elsewhere?

(Flash of light)
It doesn’t matter. They enjoy arguing and insulting one another, enjoy accusing one another of being someone else.

(Flash of light)
With the anonymity of their names and Dawlish associations they could be good friends, spend their evenings in the pub together and never know they had been wrangling with each other all day.

(Flutter)
I used to play rugby every year against a local club, with whom we had a history. Every year the front rows would end up fighting on the field. Every year, after the match, they wound up, the six of them, with their arms around one another, drinking pints.

(Flash)
It’s because, for some, this forum is like a rugby field or a squash court for me. It exists as a type of discrete universe, within which you go all out to win and give nothing to your opponent during the match. Then you have a shower and head to the bar for a drink and a chat.

(Judder)
You, Don, thought that this was the universe of serious discussion and logical development of ideas to a purpose. A world in which people use their real names and no-one knows the meaning of “eristic”. You thought it was about life in Dawlish. It might have been those things, but it isn’t.

(Flash)
Don’t you realise, moth mind, that this entire post shows that you have flown into their universe? This has nothing to do with Dawlish and you know what some people are like with a moth in the room. Better put it in the back yard where nobody will notice or reply.

(Flutter)
Hey, Don. Haven’t you any vested interests to occupy you?

No, Don, mate, I’m from Teignmouth. Anyway, it’s a Bank Holiday. Fancy another beer?

Undiscriminating, indiscriminate, non-discriminatory.

Well Don, you say,"Why don’t you ask why they don’t produce evidence of the claims they make, why they don’t pursue these issues elsewhere?"

Informing someone of what might be going on is as good as telling them.
If people wish to carryon sleep walking, it is their choice.
I have no axe to grind, I have no personal interest on subjects that I warn others about.
Some people cannot see the wood from the trees.
I hope I can open their eyes, whether it is on this forum or another.
If you did not listen to the news, would you have another source of informing you of what is happening in our world today?

I constantly tell older citizens not to open their doors to strangers, some wonder why I tell them and I have to give them a reason.
Do I always need to give a reason why I warn people on this forum of what can/might happen in other situations?

Thank you for a thoughtful, intelligent and insightful posting Don. The sentiments that you express within it will certainly be taken on board by myself.
