How fantastic has this Olympic weekend been for Great Britain?

Well done to all British medal winners for helping to put the Great back into Britain.

They've fully vindicated the magnificent investment that has been made into sporting facilities in this country.

I totally agree, made me feel proud to be British. The cycling was excellent and really enjoyed the events on the water. Bring on more medals.

Another Gold Medal last night takes us up to a grand total of 13 - with more to come in the cycling!

Looking forward to hearing God Save The Queen ringing out around the velodrome again.

Well done Victoria! That's Gold no. 14 wrapped up.

No. 15 will be coming soon!

Rule Britannia!

And Chris Hoy and Jason Kenny take gold and silver! That's 15 golds now - a wonderful achievement.

I'm sure I'm not the only one on here proud to be a Brit. :-)

Well done to Christine Ohuruogu, the latest British success story!

What a truly wonderful few days this has been, with Britain third in the medal table:

16 Gold
9 Silver
8 Bronze

Quite breath-taking.

Why does Kelly Holmes take 20 years to achieve her dream, culminating in representing the aims of United Kingdom athletes; only to spoil it all by representing Kellog's in commercials, knowing full well that their products have been instrumental in increasing the sugar and salt intake of their consumers?

Not exactly health conscious.

Looks like money wins again.

It must hurt Dullish Roy so much to see people being successful and our country sitting proudly on the centre stage of the world.

Well done to Tim Brabants for winning the canoe/kayak race in truly remarkable fashion.

Make no mistake, this is historic stuff that we are witnessing here! We ought to be proud of what is happening right now, rather than resorting to petty and irrelevant guttersniping...

Sir Roger Bannister once told the BBC in an interview that he was prouder of his life’s work as a neurologist than his four-minute
mile, and he once said that “the thinking sporting life is not worth living”, adapting a famous quote from Socrates.

That’s Socrates, the classical Greek philosopher, not the former Brazilian footballer.

I thought for one surreal moment there that you actually had a sense of humour.

Until I found that you've yet again merely done a copy and paste job, this time from the transcript from the Radio 4 show that was broadcast last week.

Never knew using cut & paste facility of computer was a crime.

You appear to convey your pride of Britain entirely through sport. Are you lacking in cultural depth?

By the way, what's with all this Team GB nonsense? It should be United Kingdom (Team UK), seeing as our team includes Northern Ireland athletes.

Straightforward Answer:
No.

Surely you're not saying that we shouldn't be proud of our wonderful sporting achievements??!

This is history that we are very lucky to be witnessing - I personally feel thar we should all be extremely proud of what is being achieved over in China.

Why is your pride in Britain based solely on sport? Like I said.....culturally lacking.

I see you gave no response to the United Kingdom point.

When did I say that my pride in Great Britain was based purely on sporting achievement? You assume far, far too much me owd china.

As to your final sentence, I gave no response because (as you state) it was a point, not a question. As it happens, I agree that your point is factually correct.

Well done Tom Daley! Plymouth must be extremely proud. If only Dawlish could produce an athlete of his calibre?

Highly unlikely, when Dawlish Town Council's emphasis on youth amounts to background deals with Teignbridge District Council to push through a Youth Centre that is more concerned with alcoholics and drug addicts, than the local youth it was intended for.

Now we learn that this Youth Cente has been allocated a bar in the ever-changing plans.

Is this mish-mash of a project truly aimed at improving the lives of our youth? Or is it the result of inept councillors grabbing whatever straws they can after their disgusting mismanagement of the Leonard Lamb legacy?
