I have clipped this from a previous thread, as i believe our local journalist, Tom Scobie, is not representing us as he promised.
Mr Scobie's manifesto includes his "intention to ensure that, with the active engagement of our readers, the Gazette not only reflects the community but serves it with renewed vigour" and "looking forward to hearing from people with every shade of opinion and to covering the news stories which are important to them".
If this is the case, then why has he not been investigating the issues regarding Dawlish Town Council/John Anthony and the scandalous alteration of our Youth Centre to a Multi-use drug offender Centre? Real journalists have their ears to the ground and do not need prompting from the people they serve, to investigate the big issues.
What is your excuse Mr Scobie?
i think you'll find most local papers do very little unless the local people put pressure on it.
Their journalism is usually non existant.
The answer is easy , dont buy the paper and dont advertise in it.
I think you will find the answer is from the horses mouth. When the chief journalist at Newton Abbot was asked, some time ago, why Dawlish had no reporter after the sudden leaving of J. Wright... he replied that they were in no hurry to fill that position as it was too much of a hot potato.
Low and behold, not long after, the position is filled by an ex Dawlish Councillor...Tom Scobie. Anyone smell a rat?
Dawlish Town Councillors act with impunity because they are smug in the knowledge that no real journalistic investigation will ever take place against them. The same applies to their website.
You are agitated (oh holy one who has nothing to do with the council?) because you cannot stamp on websites like this that expose the council for the corrupt, arrogant, miscreants they are. When the likes of W.Protheroe go down the pan, will you still be licking his derriere?
Roy sorry Anon, you talk absolute crap.
Because i put a post saying that all local papers are shite, i am covering up for the council. What planet are you on.
"Their coming to take you away"
A quick equation.
Tom Scobie was on Dawlish Town Council.
Tom Scobie's friend is employed as Assistant Bar Manager at The Mount Pleasant Inn.
Wally Protheroe is Mayor of Dawlish Town Council and also Landlord of The Mount Pleasant Inn.
The air is thick with the stench of bias...
