Once you finish school most people with a brain try to get out of Dawlish, as there isn’t much else to do except work behind a bar or sit on the other side of it. Dawlish hasn’t got any opportunities for young people not unless you want to own a pub, work in Somerfield or be a drop out.

My advice to young people is to get out while you can or before you know it you will be one of those old pensioners you saw today walking down the strand!

Stay in Dawlish, buy a house. Get a quiet job.

I know people who did precisely this after leaving school. They now have far greater net worth than me, and i've been busting my hump all over the world for the last 20 years.

Just because you live in Dawlish doesn't mean you have to work there too.... it's called COMMUTING. You can do this via train, bus or car. With property prices always increasing it's hard to be a first time buyer in Dawlish but if you are lucky enough to be able to afford a mortgage you will get a sizeable profit when you go to move. You can work in Exeter for any number of national companies all paying up to 25K and return to Dawlish each evening to enjoy the relative quiet- and beach!
