Skatepark being built on wrong site!

Planning permision was given for the skate park to be built on the site of the children's old play area. This is the same site that the Youth Centre is to be built on!

Ergo - the skatepark that is presently being built does not have planning permission given that it is being built on what was part of the grassy playing field and not the concrete of the children's play area.

At least we are getting the long awaited skatepark.
There is enough p.c., in this world let them get on with it, then we will have happy skate boarders

And what might your thoughts be then Olive on the proposed youth training centre aimed at the "disaffected" youth of Teignbride?

Should that be okay as well?

on a day to day basis we work with disaffected youths, has anoyone actualy looked up the meaning of disaffected?

you may not see them in dawlish but trust me there is plenty else why would the services in the little youth cafe/centre being so popular and worthwhile helping a lot of young people.

the skate park is not being buil onn the wrong site it is well within its margins people are just complaining because they havent thought of it themselves. why has everything thats good for dawlish put down?

No-one is saying that there aren't 'disaffected' youths in Dawlish. What people are concerned about is that the proposed vocational learning unit at the site of the Youth club is aimed at the 'disaffected' of ALL Teignbridge.

And yes of course I've looked up 'disaffected'. In fact now I realise that I'm 'disaffected' myself. I go from being an actively 'disaffected' adult to being a passively 'disaffected' adult with all this planning nonsense that is presently going on in Dawlish.

Don't have a problem with the skatepark as such - I have a problem with sloppy planning applications - that for the skatepark and the the vocational learning unit are two glaring examples.

JJ, this thread is about the skatepark being built on the wrong site. Not about the youth centre. And the skate park is being built on the WRONG SITE. Not, in terms of it's "not a good site" for it, but in terms of it's not the site that they said on the planning application. Sloppy, wrong. Geddit?

Perhaps JJ is an ANARCHIST, and as there are plenty here in Dawlish, it wouldn't surprise me to see one come to this site and defend the indefensible.

JJ there's another thread on here about the youth centre. That's got some interesting comments on it too.

the location of the skatepark moved from the original (old rec ground) to its current construction site under planning applications. The new site was granted a lease by TDC, trees were allowed to be felled under the planning application and hence it is where it is. I can only sugges that when you see a planning notice tied to a tree or lamp post, you actually search out the details behind it. It is only by doing thisdid i discover the covert plans for devon's disaffected!

Agreed. Originally the skatepark was to have been built under the Youth Centre both of which were to have been built on the site of the children's old playground.

However, the plans got changed, due to lack of money I believe, and a separate planning application was put forward for the skatepark to be built on the site of the children's old playground.

Actually, what I believe DAY meant was that they were seeking planning permission for the Skatepark to be built on the grassy area adjacent to the children's old playground. BUT THEY DIDN'T SAY THAT! What they sought and what they were given planning permissin to do, was to build the skate park on the site of the old children's playground. Not where it is presently bein built!

Hence my original posting.
