I abhor vandalism, and I think the young people should have places to go and things to do. This Councillor Clatworthy sounds an absolute swine. Do people actually VOTE for this cad?
How come someone who is so short sighted gets to be a councillor?
Suggest sending strong letter of condemnation to his home address.
Arrange petitions in local shops
Try and get media coverage through BBC Spotlight or ?
Write to local/national newspapers would make good story giving themselves funds and not deserving youngsters
Thats a tempting idea. I might well put pen to paper. I note that this Mr Clatworthy was one who would not say whether he was a freemason or not, despite the Society of Freemasons recommending that they do.
I shall try Spotlight.
PUBLIC MEETING AT THE MANOR HOUSE ON THURSDAY FEBRUARY 23,7PM PLEASE COME AND SEE WHICH COUNCILLORS BACKED THE FULL GRANT OF £150.000 FOR THE NEW YOUTH CENTRE.
Do not worry sir, I have already reserved my seat. I see there is considerable outrage in the Post this morning. Good! Lets see how Mr Clatworthy explains himself - if he has the guts to turn up!
Is this notice of public meeting going to be advertised around the town or put thro letterboxes?
Good luck with Spotlight

I would hope it is - but who is going to print leaflets and distribute?
Thanks for the link - I have sent story off to BBC.
I hope John Clatworthy, Hockin, and the other Puppets do the honourable thing and resign from the council with immediate effect.

WILL THE TOWN CRYER OUT AND ABOUT DO HIS JOB ?.NO NO NO
I have toyed with the idea of producing an ALTERNATIVE Town Crier. Unfortunately I do not have the time; otherwise I would take great delight in showing the people of Dawlish what really goes on in their town.
The meeting was well attended - about 120 I would say.
Needless to say Clatworthy and Hocking were not present, though Mary Mugford was. She said she was sorry and she had made a mistake. An 'extraordinary' meeting is to take place on 9th March when it will be voted on again. (Public can attend). It seems certain that the vote will go differently this time.
It was mentioned that there is much strife amidst Dawlish Town Council.
yes as a mother of a small child i am totally shocked to hear about the youth centr in dawlish it won;t be long until my daughter will be of an age to use this facility.
Strife that will be no more once these people have CCTV installed around the town to monitor there citizens every move. You will obey the Dawlish Town Council 'Police State'
The exact number of CCTV cameras in the UK is not known.
A 2002 working paper by Michael McCahill and Clive Norris of UrbanEye [1], based on a small sample in Putney High Street, "guesstimated" the number of surveillance cameras in private premises in London as around 400,000 and the total number of cameras in the UK as around 4,000,000. The UK has 20% of the world's CCTV and one camera for every 14 people.

Opponents of CCTV point out the loss of privacy of the people under surveillance, and the negative impact of surveillance on civil liberties. Furthermore, they argue that CCTV displaces crime, rather than reducing it.
Critics often dub CCTV as "Big Brother surveillance", a reference to George Orwell's novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, which featured a two-way telescreen in every home through which The Party would monitor the populace. A more realistic depiction of CCTV is in the V for Vendetta series, which anticipated the current situation.
The recent growth of CCTV in housing areas also raises serious issues about the extent to which CCTV is being used as a social control measure rather than simply a deterrent to crime, especially with the relationship to ASBOs.

Spy satellites, the retention of electronic data records, now CCTV and the potential of ID cards being introduced.
All of this is a dictators dream....What next?
Oh and don't forget the gradual but continual attack on free speech?

In addition to him blocking the youth center Mr Clatworthy has also been fingered as the main culprit of blocking other youth development scheme's such as the building of the new Air Training Corps Head Quaters in dawlish. The new building was due to have been built over the Xmas holiday due to its location in the grounds of the community college, but Mr Clatworthy soon put a stop to that, even though new facilities their are desperatly required due to the age of the existing building, etc.
