I think with everything going on such as the pond the bandstand is last on the agenda. It has been has it is ever since I have lived here, to turn it into anything else would cost ex amount of thousands of pounds which I am sure in the economic climate could be put to better use

I agree Don. It was on the local news, seems it could be either the swans or a blue flag. If the swans have been here for the 20 odd years I have, how did Dawlish manage to have the flag before. Why are the swans being picked out, many other water foul also enjoy residence.
Sampsons in Park Road hire them out and will deliver and collect. There rates are reasonable, and supporting our local shops will keep them alive
Health and Safety plus litigation is the reason things have changed. Also people travel further to work including teachers. Let children have a couple of days off school they may have to wait another 20 years before than can throw another snowball or make a snowman.
Heard on the radio today that more people are staying in the UK for their holidays this year, because of the falling pound. This should be good for the local economy. Every cloud has a silver lining
The Woolworths chain will be taken over. If Dawlish looses Woolies and another similar outlet is not put in its place the town and other small towns will have nothing to offer. There are three pubs up for sale in Dawlish including the Landsdowne £1,250,000 The White Hart £49,000 and another. I have heard that Tesco owns One Stop and is buying The Hole in the Wall and will make one large store, ...
Thanks and hope you had a good day and that the forum is a success in the new year
I found myself walking in Dawlish at 9.30 tonight, the town was as though asleep and I expected Johhny Depp to appear as in Sleepy Hollow or was that wishful thinking , sorry I digress. Was this a one off, did fortune come my way, and all the miscreants we are frequently warned about busy elswher or a figment of imagination. Is the town hibernating as not a soul could be seen. Or was I visiting ...
I agree Don, but I am not sure how these sites are funded, if at all. In my ignorance I thought it had something to do with the ads that pop up when someone posts, if these dry up, will the ads and the income? Also if there are only a few posters, the replies to any subject become predicatable, maybe I am being too cynical, time will tell
Me thinks you are taking the 'p' is it because you crave for attention, or are trying to to point out charties misdemenors, unfounded of course.
Our esteemed G.Brown was laughing and joking with the same city bankers who have earned themselves millions to the demise of everyone else. All politics is corrupt whats the alternative? thats another debate
A bit of realism is needed here. A youth centre where alcohol was intened to be served would not get past the planning stage.
Viaduct surveylance is not a local problem. This country has more CCTV cameras than anywhere else in the world along with DNA and Electronic Data. We are in fact entering an Orwellian society by government stealth.
All of us either by birth or choice who live in Devon are so very fortunate. We have the sea at our doorstep which can be as calm as a millpond or as angry as a raging bull and fills our imagination as well as our soul We have Dartmoor, exquisit as any painting in a fashionable gallery, for free, from rugged to postcard picturesque We have the countryside with its rich tapestry never still always ...
When every thread becomes a rant to castigate the council, the concerns of the poster 're the council' become not only diluted but boring. Having one thread about the councils ills is all that is needed, then those who share the same concerns know where to go. Some of us do not appreciate all this 'mud slinging' and it is not what we come on here for. Perhaps there should be an insulting each other ...
Is that every council or a Dawlish Town Council rule. If it is the latter is it legal? Are the minutes available to the public?
Could someone give me the web site for the propposed plans for the Dawlish Youth Centre. From what I have read there is going to be a youth centre and a new community centre and perhapes that is where the confusion is regarding a bar and disco. As for a drug/alcohol abuse centre I think this would be a good idea giving the amouont of drug users and alcoholics in the town. My children although ...
If the Government can bail Northern Rock out what is to stop them becoming the majority share holder in our transport systems at least then they would have the major say in running them. On second thoughts all they seem to be any good at is getting things wrong.
Have you proof of the Round tables etc misconduct of money raised. If so I suggest you contact their governing body which can be found on the internet. I am sure these bodies would take you seriously as they are registered charities and have not only their good name but also their license to uphold. Good luck with ferriting out any members of these organisations, we have to name and shame if we ...
Why post an article without giving an opinion?
