FOUR students from South Devon University Technical College ( SDUTC) in Newton Abbot, part of Education South West , recently completed a transformative week long work experience programme with Network Rail and Great Western Railway (GWR).
DAWLISH Community Transport was one of 20 charities to benefit from the latest round of donations from Devon Freemasons. The transport charity was granted £1,500 from the twice-yearly Freemasons WAKE Fund towards funding a new minibus.
BUS timetable changes across Teignbridge and south Devon have left students with just three minutes to switch services to get to college on time. Students travelling from Dawlish Warren, Dawlish and Teignmouth to South Devon College in Paignton are struggling to make their 9am classes following the introduction of new Stagecoach timetables last week.
The eggs were stolen from Co-op in Teignmouth. Teignmouth and Dawlish Neighbourhood Policing Team received reports of young people throwing eggs at people and cars on Monday, May 26. A young male was arrested for theft, while four others are under investigation for theft and assault, police say.
A LOCAL fire station took the short trip to the Langstone Cliff Hotel for their latest drill night. Dawlish’s firefighters had ‘great fun in the evening sunshine’ practising throw lines, tethered wading, long beach rescue and words of command at the hotel’s pool.

Ben Elliot, owner of Park Road repair shop, Be Repaired, says that Sainsbury’s plan to build a new retail concession pod in its carpark will adversely affect his business.
NIGHT bus services will be available on Saturday evenings across Devon throughout this year. Starting from this Saturday, May 31 and following successful trials last year in North Devon and Torbay, the Night bus services are returning alongside new routes in Exeter, including the Dawlish via Exminster and Starcross route.
SEVERAL popular events had to be cancelled this Bank Holiday weekend due to forecast high winds and rain. In Dawlish, there was disappointment as the fourth Turn The Tide environment festival, due to be held on Monday on the Lawn, was cancelled.
