Sorry Lynne,  just this one time,   I'm with you on Sangs. Sorry Burneside for not posting from my three week holiday in Thailand, am back now, good to see the party's still in swing and the booze is still flowing.   i see you've been off this forum longer than me, perhaps you were trying to recover from the unexpected vote of confidence in your arch nemesis Judith Chalmers.  Since it's only ...

Thank you Michael Clayson, I think you've ably demonstrated your effectiveness in word and deed. Hopefully everyone will graciously allow you time off from this subject and you can get on with some Christmas shopping.

She wasn't wrong! http://dawlish.com/thread/details/16807

Informative comments from Robert and Michael.  If I were Richard Weeks I'd also be making sure I had a tenacious lawyer on side to challenge what is obviously a very complex issue through the appropriate channels.

If you're talking about bringing Dawlish into disrepute, look no further than Councillor Margaret Swift. Annother46 - aren't you the one who not long ago made one family's life a misery with your poison pen posts?

The only thing that's obvious is your smokescreen around your dismal attendance record.  I don't need to hear the whys and wherefores,  if your 'paid employment' stops you turning up to council meetings make a choice.

I certainly do understand.  I'm curious as to why you feel the need to differentiate it.  Do you think the paid element makes it more significant than other unpaid responsibilities?  Is it a more worthy excuse for not attending meetings?  And just so I'm clear,  could you quantify 'numerous'?   I intend to ask the same of every councillor whose attendance appears to be below par.

But your paid employment, caring and volunteering responsibilities seem to have stopped you attending evening meetings, so what difference would it make? By the way, the Plain English Society called and asked if we could revert to plain old  'work' instead of 'paid employment'.

Turning up to meetings IS your job, good on Harrie Burrowes for doing the responsible thing.   Then there's the Code of Conduct for Councillors.   How do you think you score on Obligations 1 and 2? http://m.teignbridge.gov.uk/CHttpHandler.ashx?id=35570&p=0

If you can't manage the job don't put yourself forward for it.  Let's have more committed people representing us.
