I don't begrudge them it, I'm thankful I'm not digging in piles of rubble for my loved ones.
I don't think it's unusual, it's how things were in those days, you'd get put away for depression, learning difficulties, the slightest eccentricity etc. It's tragic to think of the poor souls who were unnecessarily institutionalised.
@Lynne She's mentioned in HuwMatthews' post
Am I being naive in assuming it's people such as Her Imperial Highness and Val who make the escorted trips out and occasionally go AWOL, not the high secure ones?
To hell with what the residents think, he's already banked their money.. From what he writes, you'd think it was being used as a lorry park. He should apply to have it designated a Royal Park - no trade vehicles or motor homes are allowed in them either.
I'm not near that particular road but am on that side of Dawlish and the coverage is absolutely fine for me.
If Terence Stone Development is responsible for the existing houses, (as I understood from his letter), I wouldn't trust them with any more development. The road is narrow, cars are parked along both kerbsides so other cars can pass, and pram pushers and pedestrians use the road where the pavement gap is too narrow. Some planning! What worked in the sixties doesn't necessarily work today, and ...
Damned if you do, damned if you don't!
There was a photo in the Telegraph on Saturday too. When it comes to photographing waves over a sea wall, Dawlish is the place.
thanks @gamer My laptop (Windows 8) is connected by wifi. The Digiflex dongle is compatible with it so I'll give it a go. Thanks very much.
