A small Dawlish establishment wanted to hold a sponsored dip in the sea on Boxing Day morning. 10 a.m. meet, dip in the sea which would involve people going in about up to their waists, then running out, fancy dress optional. Then meet back at the venue for festive drinks. Proceeds to the neonatal unit at RD & E hospital. What could possibly go wrong? Ok if waves were mountainous, then common ...
Perhaps I have not travelled too much, but I do not know of another town that has such an open wildlife conservation area right in its heart. To that extent, I believe Dawlish is unique in a very enchanting way. Unfortunately, there are people who are not knowledgeable, or just plain ignorant as to how to nurture this. Therefore, I feel that a certain amount of signage is really necessary. As to ...
I was down there this afternoon, and it is still there but someone (presumably a public spirited individual) has overpainted the 'F' words with blue paint.
People, is it not time to take a deep breath, then step back and have a good look at the issues being argued here. Is it possible that it has been debated to death, and has now descended into a rather juvenile slagging match? Is is really worth all this energy? I do not believe I know anyone posting on this thread, but please guys, just give it a rest!
I have just visited this park for my first time. All I can say is that it is so lovely, and marvellous to see how so many other people were enjoying it so much too, most of them with their lovely dogs. How anyone can find anything to moan about this facility is beyond my comprehension. Perhaps they should be left to wallow in their own misery, where they are most happy!!!
@Margaret Swift , I am sad that you have had bad experiences with our local health services. In the past, in another part of the country, my family has too, so I sympathise. I am only coming back on your comment that I was lucky. That would mean I have been lucky several times so far with the Barton Surgery, and I do not believe that my comments regarding Torbay Hospital were down to luck. I ...
I have recently had a planned operation at Torbay Hospital, and I have to say that I have nothing but praise for my treatment and care. The ward was spotlessly clean and all the staff, from the cleaners and caterers to all medical staff were very professional, cheerful and caring. After discharge I have had excellent service from the Outreach Team who have visited me always on time. I had to phone ...
I have moved to Dawlish recently from a city where we had to wait up to three weeks for a non emergency GP appointment. To get an emergency one, you, or in my case a non sick member of the family had to visit the surgery dead on 8.30 a.m. because you could never get through on the phone. I have nothing but praise for the Barton Surgery. Appointments have been easy to obtain, and all the staff we ...
As far as I can see, it's a public place and the police have a duty to maintain the Queen's Peace. What the "Town Manager" thinks about police presence should have naff all to do with it!!!
Brooklyn Bridge, I like your style with the 101 number!! Regarding the incident that you described afterwards, if indeed the police did nothing, then it looks like a possible complaint of Neglect of Duty could be appropriate. A lot might depend on what the officers witnessed, but if there were witnesses willing to make statements, then the couple should have been arrested, at the very least under ...
