It made me laugh that they had to import the rocks to fill the baskets, when the beach down there is full of rocks! Why don't the authorities get clearing away the rocks (large pebbles) at the very top of beach at the Warren, just before Groyne 1. It wouldn't be a waste of time as the tide rarely gets that high - and it would greatly improve visitor's (and local's!!!) first impressions of that fab ...
Happy New Year. I hope you enjoyed the Dawlish bank holiday sunshine - I did! A lovely walk around the town, a bite to eat in the Strand Cafe, a stroll down to Coryton Cove (very sandy again) and then popped into 1 or 2 shops. Back to reality and increased train fares tomorrow!

I completely agree. A friend of mine suffered wanton drunken damage to their car about 18 months ago. The culprit was found, convicted and had to pay a victim's surcharge that paid to put good the damage caused.
I'd like to take the opportunity to publicly congratulate the proprietors of the Strand Cafe for the excellent work they've done to pull the place up by the bootstraps, since they took the place over. It's great to see businesses like this go the extra mile and make the effort to open when other establishments fail to do so. Quality food, quality surroundings, quality service. Well done to all ...
There's plenty of jobs that need doing around town that the person found guilty should be made to do. I really like the idea of 'unpaid work' as a punishment - it's only a pity that this isn't used more often and more visibily.
