@Margaret Swift Excellent response which kind of proves my point. Including yourself you have only managed to mention three. What about the other 9 or 10 Town councilors, and seeing as we are naming names perhaps you could tell us what the following TDC members have contributed Humphery Clemens Alan Connett Ted Hockin John Petherick plus the DCC representatives As for dear old ...

Elvis. Dont spoil their fun its all laughable stuff and MrsC is no match for Carer, she even agrees with you about being a clown

How many councillors who have done nothing, said nothing and basically hidden away for the past 6 weeks will be re-appearing for the grand re-opening. Apart from our own Micheal Clayson who has at least tried to keep us informed there should be no councillors invited or welcomed, so stay away. This event should be one for the workers not the suits its these people who have risked their lives ...

About a new face for the viaduct alltogether. Easily achieved by fitting a false plastic rust resistant facia similar to a shop front. Could include an inprinted graphic of maybe the swans and an old steam engine illuminated at night with hi tech colour changing LED lighting which is very effective and energy saving. Would make it look totally new, modern and clean. New thinking without the ...

Good work in Dawlish

On a positive note Roberta, I hope your right however dont forget the old chestnut "Money" and who's going to pay. Network Rails responsibility is to keep the infrastructure in a fit state to keep the trains running, not to make Dawlish a better and safer place to live. That Im affraid is down to the people of Dawlish itself, but raising council tax as sugested is not going to go down to well. ...

@Mrs C If what is clearly visible is doom and gloom, whats your take on it. Network Rail are only going to do enough work to get the trains running safely once more, they are not going to rebuild the whole town. If you stood watching the high tide at lunch time battering the sea wall exactly in the same spot as the great hole then Stephen you would quickly realise that nothing has changed ...

You give TDC an extra £1M to spend and the councillors would all be off on even more jollies, and probably the staff toilets at Forde House would get a refurb. Dawlish wouldnt see a penny. As for Network Rail carrying on forget it. They only got finished laying the new track last night and already their packing up ready for the off.  They cant carry on working flat out once the trains are ...

If what you say is correct Michael then as a town we are in a very vunerable situation as to our future sea defense. It is also unthinkable that Network Rail have the capability and entittlement to hold the town to ransome. It now becomes even clearer that once the trains are running again nothing further will be done for a very long time. Perhaps now is the time for a published guaranteed ...

@stephen15 You are spot on there and typical of why Teignmouth prospers and Dawlish seeps further into decay. Yes we will undoubtably "return to normal" with no lessons learnt, no changes made, no new thinking and no new investment. Unless your a historical railway fanatic its perfectly obvious that the line is just a blight on the town which in turn prevents any development of the sea ...

@michaelclayson Thanks for the info however it isent very helpfull in addressing the main points of the post. Perhaps you could enlighten further as to A) What gives Network Rail the right to virtually take over the town and declare huge parts of it "off limits" and if this is likely to be a regular occurrance then the sooner they move the line inland the better. B) Where do Network rail ...
