I suspect dawlishwulf is right. It probably wasn't a big enough incident for them to send out their own photographers or news reporters. Or they were too late.

I think it would be best to just scrap this benefit and increase the tax threshold to something that resembles the cost of living. I stay here in Dawlish. I used to lie to work colleagues when they asked if I was going anywhere nice and say I was looking for a last minute deal even though my plans were to do sweet FA. Eventually I realised most of my work colleagues were doing the same as me. Why, when you finally get some time off to enjoy the place you live in, go somewhere else? It doesn't make sense.

Workfare is a bad idea if it means subsidising businesses. The best thing would be for people to do community work, such as clearing up litter, restoring church buildings, etc. Unfortunately, this is seen as 'punishment' in this day and age. When you think about it, it is a screwed up system when a Judge can sentence someone to work! Is work really punishment? If so, I may put in an appeal.

That is a good idea except there is not a lot of choice out there.
