Today's Dawlish Gazette.25 years ago.Work has begun to implement some of the traffic orders ,which were agreed last year, in a bid to alleviate Dawlish town centre's chronic traffic troubles. Can anyone remember what work was carried out and also was there a great improvement?
I know what you mean, but my kids always enjoyed collecting little things such as a fruit lolly, a toothbrush, pens and pencils, soap and flanel, nothing fancy or expensive. The sort of things most youngsters here would turn their nose up at.
What's going on with the stretch of road near Lady's Mile. The road was recently re-surfaced, then double white lines were added and last week reflective studs. Just driven down that stretch of road and the double white lines and reflective studs seem to have been removed. I wonder who's responsible for that blunder!
There will be the new Geralds store on the corner of Brook Street, not sure what the shop in the Strand is now going to be as it has been let.
@neilh sloe vodka sounds interesting, have made sloe gin may have a go at the sloe vodka.
A suspicious male who was believed to be attempting pickpocketing earlier today was reported to Dawlish Neighbourhood Police. The Lawn is very busy and crowded so keep your belongings close to you. If you notice any suspicious activity dial 999 and notify the Dawlish Carnival Marshals.
Did you buy your slush puppie from one of the fair wagons? If so just remember when you take your children to see Farther Christmas at the Christmas Market in the Strand and they get a free toy donated by David Rowland you would have paid for it via your slush puppie.
I have just come back from a lovely walk along the beach and back the cliff path. Thanks to Devon County Council the pathway has been cleared.
Anyone know the outcome of the emergency town council meeting last night ? Between the council and the carnival organisers.
Any idea what's happening with the empty ex Deli and Cafe' on the Strand?
I too did the same walk thismorning it was lovely to see so many families enjoying the spring like weather.
Happy Christmas Philip and everyone xx Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep Posting.
If you are on your own of would like company on Christmas Day, Church Leaders at the Strand Centre are inviting you to a full, traditional festive lunch. The fun starts at noon and will be finished in time to be home for the Queen at 3pm. Dawlish Taxis has also offered to pick quest up including those with disabilities. There is no charge for the meal but donations can be made to Christian Aid. ...
What about the property along the Exeter Road over looking the sea? Thats in a very dangerous state.
Have you had your bicycle stolen recently? Two stolen bicycles were dumped in gardens at Dawlish Warren. Police are trying to trace the owners. If you think one might be yours you can contact the police on 08452 777444 quoting A /27647.
I noticed a lot of surveying going on around the Exeter Road, Sandy Lane area of late. Spoke to one of the men surveying and he told me Devon County Council are surveying the area ready to install cycle paths leading to Dawlish Community and Gatehouse school.
Thanks boot strap bill, I know now , slight printing error. Maybe you know more about it than I do!
Maybe this is what the council is waiting for a new and modern car park!
Don't forget all you dog owners as from today dogs are allowed on the beach from the slipway adjacent to the Railway Station until 230 metres before Red Rock at Dawlish Warren. There is a notice from the Red Rock towards Dawlish but nothing from Dawlish to the Red Rock!
A lot of parents are concerned about their young children drinking alcohol and seem to think that some children going to the Red Rock Youth Centre are in some way to blame. I don't think anyone would get pass the entrance if they had alcohol on them but once they leave who knows! I can't understand why on a Friday 11-14 year-olds have to signed out but on a Saturday 11-18 year-olds can leave when ...
What a shame Co-op has taken so long to submit their planning application. I think if they had got a move on it might have helped save some other shops. I visited Co-op on many occasion only to find they didn't have what i needed so i popped over to Teignmouth Co-op and was able to get what i was looking for so i ended up shopping for my other bits in Teignmouth.
After reading a letter in this weeks Dawlish Gazette i agree with Fronteraman. I can't believe he didn't get the support he deserved from the carnival comittee.
Just been for a walk around the back of Gatehouse School and felt sadened to see the loss of school play area also the nature reserve which the children had a great fondness for: https://www.dawlish.com/photo/?id=41
News release update by Devon and Cornwall Police. Police have arrested a 24 and 26 year-old-man in connection with the ongoing Teignmouth murder inquiry. They were taken into custody in Exmouth this afternoon on suspicing of murder.

A lot of people on the Elmgrove Estate are concerned. Years ago you didn't have pubs open until am also there weren't groups of youngsters out causing trouble half the night. I think there will be a large increase in crime.
Why is the new youth centre in Sandy Lane closed in the school half term week? I walked by there this evening and saw a woman get out of her car to check opening times and couldn't believe it was closed. I thought it was going to be a youth centre for the youth of Dawlish, it seems to be more of a college training centre opening only in school term time!!!!
Residents are being given the opportunity to grill current councillors tomorrow at the piazza on the lawn. The public can meet councillors and staff and quiz them about how to become a town councillor, also how the regeneration of the town is taking shape plus many other topics.
In August 2008 I was informed that the ban of alcohol in a public place had been raised at three council meetings but the council had turned down a request of a ban.
Good to see Dawlish Skip Hire back in business. Have they been taken over by someone else?
I agree, we went to Newton Abbot last Tuesday and they had a Farmers Market that day and it was buzzing. Lots of farm produce and plenty of buyers. Dawlish will never succeed in anything of this nature as the only people who can afford the prices at these markets are wealthy retired people and unfortunately most of the elderly people living in Dawlish are struggling to survive on their measly ...
Someone has told me of a scheme where the government pays up to £3,000 for replacements but you have to have tax credits. What is this scheme and what are tax credits? Does anyone know?
