A bewildered deer became separated from its herd and deceided to do a bit of shopping in Stokes fruit and veg shop in The Strand Dawlish. It was a shock for customers who first thought it was a dog, but quickly realized it was a bit too big and boisterous. The RSPCA were called and the deer was taken away to be released back into the wild.

A retired heating engineer from Dawlish died after eating a gel sachet used in urin bottles. The 88 year-old was admitted to Dawlish hospital from his home in Holman Close. He ingested the sachet while in Dawlish hospital. He was treated immediately and then transferred to Torbay hospital where he died the same day. A full inquest will be heard at a later date.
