This is the info I have just received from TDC Electoral Services re the last date and time for nominations to be lodged with TDC from candidates wishing to stand in this constituency (Newton Abbot). 4.00pm on 11th May (to be confirmed by the electoral commission)
There is a post on Eyes of Dawlish advertising the hustings so it looks as though it is going ahead. Starts 7.00pm . The Strand Centre. Friday 28th April For info: the County council is responsibile for: schools, education, libraries, trading standards, social services, social care (eg care homes, highways and some aspects of planning. Apologies if I have left anything out.

Just idle curiosity really on my part as I've just looked on the town council website and the last meeting showing as being scheduled to take place was on the 12th of this month (ie last week).
and thanks for pointing out that the majority of those who voted in TM's Maidenhead constituency in last year's referendum voted Remain. I was unaware of the irony.

Hmmm......might the tack that May takes in terms of Brexit negotiations be determined not only by the number of Tory MPs she ends up with but also by their Brexit inclination? In other words if she gained, say, 50 more MPs and the vast majority were of the Ian Duncan Smith/Jacob Rees Mogg/Liam Fox inclination towards Brexit then the influence of the MPs pushing for a hard Brexit would not be ...
