DEVON Women’s Walking Football League held their penultimate round of fixtures in Exeter on Sunday, March 2. In the glorious afternoon sunshine, the three Dawlish teams played out an exciting and competitive series of games.

CHILDREN with special educational needs in Newton Abbot will be helped by a pioneering new ‘hub’ being set up in south Devon. The SEND hub is being established in collaboration with the Dawlish-based Special Partnership Trust and Devon County Council.

A hardware shop in Teignmouth is to reopen this weekend after a lengthy closure following a fire last year. Firefighters from Teignmouth, Dawlish and Torquay were called to the shop after a fire was spotted in a doorway.

FIVE newly-hatched cygnets were the subject of a rescue mission on the Brook in Dawlish. The days old cygnets had become trapped on the lower weir and were unable to scramble to safety. The cygnets hatched last week to parents Bert and Kimba.

A brave man waded through cold water to rescue five stricken cygnets in Dawlish . The fluffy birds found themselves on the wrong side of a storm fence on Friday (February 28) and risked being swept away.

A famous family of swans in a Devon seaside town have welcomed their newest brood of adorable cygnets. The five fluffy baby birds were spotted on the Dawlish Brook earlier this week, huddled together as their mum fussed over them.

A Dawlish woman who grew up in the care system is running the London Marathon in April to raise money for a local charity that supports vulnerable young people as they enter adulthood. ‘She felt she had no one for support, no one to listen or help her, she got into debt and was miserable and alone,’ Shannon explained.
