@Andy Mac I'd rather not reveal my identity in case you catch me out on some past posting where I've upset you on another subject. I'm also hoping that you will find in each of us something admirable and worth supporting. We have a really great team and the everyone is on very good terms. We have had a couple of meetings in central Dawlish and one at Cockwood and the next is at Dawlish Warren on ...
You probably notice that INDEPENDENT VOICES FOR DAWLISH have separated themselves from any political allegiance, and that's because they feel that Party Politics have no place at Parish level (i.e. Town Council) . It's slightly different at District Council because they can influence Housing and Planning policies, and more so at County level where Education, Social Care and Transport are added. ...
I hope they are also going to repair the rotting frontage and windows and make it something the town can enjoy seeing. Considering that a prominent local councillor owns it..........................
Perhaps it would be a goood idea if people learned to drive at the official speed limit. It's not difficult to judge your speed from engine noise even if you don't want to look at the speedo. I have totally lost patience with those who go out of their way to fight the law, whether to find parking places or speed limits when their energies ought to be spent finding ways to improve the quality of ...
If you really are interested in the mess we are in buy a copy of the Dawlish Gazette tomorrow.
If you want to read the way the Planning Officer handled the last twin planning applcation Tesco vs Sainsbury, look at http://www.teignbridge.gov.uk/CHttpHandler.ashx?id=24126&p=0 You will see that he advised against Shutterton site and only set out Section 106 benefits for the Tesco site (including only £200K for town centre improvements). I'm not sure if there are procedural reasons for doing ...
Sainsbury's were surprised that they were not pushed for more than £200K on their first application. But the planning officer was recommending refusal on technical grounds. He was outflanked by the members from Dawlish turning up in force and speaking for the Shutterton site in preference to losing the camping grounds at Lady's Mile. At which point the Leader of TDC spoke energetically and said ...
10-year vision for Dawlish town centre: A lively, stylish and prosperous Dawlish town centre is the commercial, social and cultural hub of the community, and a magnet for tourists and day visitors. The Lawn , the open space in the heart of the town, is famous throughout the region: a beautiful riverside garden; a quiet place for picnics, sitting out and walking, and for Carnival events like ...
If you come back to the thread itself, just remember that the present traffic circualtion brings traffic into the back of town via High Street (exeter direction) and Brunswick Place (Teignmouth dirn) and the only way out is via The Strand. If you look at traffic making its way down the Strand quite 90% of it is just passing through. That is what is killing the appeal of Dawlish as a shopping ...
@PJD ********************** works very hard for Dawlish and he really is a useful councillor.
