Without wishing to take part in your private bickering session, I believe Teignbridge paid for the tidy up as it was their property, and they leased it out!

Just noting the gastronomic and cultural contrasts between two similar-sized resorts.

Yes it is very positive - I think this highlights just how much the Rock Pool cafe meant to Dawlish - it was nice to have a place that did quality food, drinks with excellent service, compared to the usual "cheeseburger and chips" places found at many seaside towns. That sounds fair enough. Does anyone know - is it being repaired as it was, i.e. with the low section that is impassible at high tide, or are they beefing that bit up a bit and making it taller/thicker?
