Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all ..... another year bites the dust.
Yes, I agree thanks to the council for stepping in to purchase a couple of swans. The black swans of Dawlish are quite a tourist attraction as with all the wildfowl that live in and around the brook, it's wonderful gem for the town. If any young are born in the near future is there any way of protecting the young one's, I don't suppose putting them in the pen would be a solution....
JC... So no cygnets have been hatched in the past 3 plus years? I first came to Dawlish 2010 and I thought there have been cygnets born since that time. According to the game warden there was a sale made or am I really going senile. Ps Sorry for not saying sorry JC lol.
Getting older loosing my marbles.
As you say time does fly. This group of cynets were hatched under Jubilee bridge I do beleive 5 of them. Of course we don't now what sex they were. However they were born spring 2013. My wife and I came to Dawlish September 2012 and remembering watching the swan under the bridge nesting and we saw the chicks on our return from the States during the summer of 2013. Perhaps Micheal you knew nothig ...
That's good news, however had they not sold all five cynets two years ago buying two more would not have been needed.
Hi all, a lot of work has gone into this website, to bad they didn't proof read it before posting. Can anyone explain to me What's a "COST LINE". is it something to do with a cloths line??? There are times when my grammer is poor but if you re-read this load of BS there are many mistakes.
While I'm in the USA in the town I used to live called South Riding Virginia, and taking a walk this afternoon in glorious sunshine I came across the local bandstand and thought that would look great in Dawlish. However I was having problems posting the photo on this site so it's now on Facebook Eyes of Dawlish. Strange no comments..............
Thanks Michael, The Information came from from the waterfowl warden. He explained in great detail regarding the black swans so that came directley from him. I thought the amount stated was high but who am I to contridict him. Apparentley ( Big Red ) as he called is located in the pen for his own safety and he has something wrong with his leg and all the other males have been attacking him and ...
I'm sure that the long standing residents of this town remember when there were as I'm told two dozen black swans. With everything going on in the world I'm sure that the eventually demise of the black swans of Dawlish are of little concern. When we moved to Dawlish two years ago there were ten, now only six remain all males. One that is known as ( Big Red ) remains in the pen due to an injury and ...
