The EU cannot stop Brexit. If there is no deal (about trade, the Irish border, Gibraltar or anything and everything else) then Britain will crash out. It will be a no deal, hard Brexit. I wonder then how the car industry (and other trading industries) will manage if they have to pay tariffs and suffer delays with importing/exporting goods.
But it comes with a warning: continued free and frictionless trade with Europe will be vital for future success. In other words, it is firmly committed to the UK for now. But that commitment is not open-ended or unconditional. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-43226097
