I wouldn't describe what takes place as bullying. However, I can't be doing with it either.
I have no problem with the plan, because, as Rainbow1 points out, I live in Teignmouth. Were I to live in Dawlish, I would have serious problems with it - because it is not a plan at all. It is a vision, glossily presented with pleasant pictures and, no doubt, expensive to produce. Without resources and a schedule, it is no more than a dream - or a sop to persuade voters that action is being taken ...
Oh, for the Backyard days of yesteryear and Viaduct, Dullish, Roy, FEL-699, Emperor Solarzoom IV, User 4549, hundreds of Anons and all the others. Where (or who) are they now? Who among the current generation can hijack any serious thread so that it denerates into a protracted slanging match over something completely different? What has happened to the (probably) alcohol fuelled late-night rants. ...
@Brazilnut Nothing on this thread written by Lynne, NeilH or myself has been saying that houses should not be built at all or that they should not be built in a particular place. Indeed, my reason for starting it under the heading "Affordable Housing" was because I believe that people throughout the area should be properly housed, now and in the future, without having to leave the area. I did not ...
Also interesting as part of understanding the problem: http://www.audit-commission.gov.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/Pages/20090226teignbridge.aspx and http://localhousingwatch.org.uk/local_authority.php?la=275
Lynne, There are so many plans and studies and policies that it is difficult to make sense of it all. Everything I look at references something else. I am ploughing my way slowly through the Affordable Housing Economic Viability Study from November 2010 http://www.teignbridge.gov.uk/CHttpHandler.ashx?id=27555&p=0 and its appendices http://www.teignbridge.gov.uk/CHttpHandler.ashx?id=27556&p=0 ...
However, perhaps I was wrong as to the intentions of the men looking at the trees:- http://www.dawlish-today.co.uk/News.cfm?id=36369&headline=No-go%20for%20Strand%20echelon%20parking%20proposals
leatash, Thanks for your post. It has prompted me to some investigation. According to the Forestry Commission website it is not necessary to cut down affected trees and they are not seriously weakened by leaf miners: http://www.forestry.gov.uk/fr/INFD-6Q3DPF and here is their article on bleeding canker http://www.forestresearch.gov.uk/fr/INFD-6KYBSS Don
I think that they are Cypresses but I don't know what variety, don
Lynne, As I was writing the initial post I realised that it would form the basis for a letter. I shall research further as I want to be able to preempt any stock answers by showing that I have already considered them.
