Sad story from the Express and Echo: Devon traveller John Treagood stranded at Exeter roundabout following death of his horse TRAVELLING man John Treagood has been left stranded on an Exeter roundabout following the death of his faithful horse Gildor. The even tempered, Irish cob horse, which for the past 18 years has happily hauled Mr Treegood and his small wagon home around Devon, ...

Why free bus passes and not free train passes?   Is it just a throwback?   If you installed Oyster card type readers on buses and at train stations you could quantify how much each company is to be reimbursed by DCC for free/subsidised travel.  Presumably the driver already does something similar on buses.

I wonder which land they'll compulsorily purchase to build the road to transport all these new residents and visitors.

I don't know who these people are either.   What's the big deal?  Providing they are acting for the good of Dawlish and abstain from decisions that benefit themselves that's fine by me.  We need people with commercial insight otherwise you end up with parochial types trying to hamper progress.  If however Fred or Margaret are suggesting that there is a conflict of interest in how they conduct ...

No cycling - I get why it needs to be like that but I do think it's a shame - Dawlish would see more visitors if they could cycle in along the flat. Come to think of it,  soon it'll all be on one level with a puncture-free concrete section, might even flout it myself.

@Michael do you know what mix of retail products are intended?   Have any other parties previously tried and failed to get planning permission for the site?

Was the question about avoiding inheritance tax liability or assigning your home to your children while you're still in good health to avoid the cost of a care home later on?  With the latter, it's not a fat cat device, 'ordinary' people do it to deprive themselves of a means tested asset.  Their children are up for it because their inheritance doesn't get eroded.

I agree with you Margaret, but it's hardly an insightful observation deserving of such self-congratulation!

Hope they take it to a vet who will know if it's microchipped.
