The words stable door/horse/bolted spring to mind. It's a bit late in the day to be tightening up security when the borders have been leaking like a sieve for years. And, of course, once somebody has gained entry to a Schengen country they can travel unhindered right across Europe, and end up in Calais to try to gain entry to the UK illegally.

I gather that today's Mail is leading with this issue and is up in arms about the inconvenience being caused to those travelling into the EU zone from outside the Schengen free movement area. ie the Brits going on holiday to sunnier climes in southern Europe. What a brill little cafe we have at Coryton Cove. Tuesday nights are pizza nights (but not next Tuesday as they have a prior engagement) and tonight was the first night and they had a good crowd. August 22 is music night with a local band as well as pizza! And from this weekend Saturday and Sunday is BBQ time from 12 noon. Get on down there! A binge drinker has been jailed for slashing two teenaged girls with a Stanley knife during a sixth form party. Webb, formerly of Ashleigh Park, Teignmouth, but now of Dawlish, admitted wounding, causing actual bodily harm, and possession of a knife and was jailed for three years and three months in a young offenders' institution by Judge Graham Cottle.
