@neilh It is interesting that the two people referring to the bible should be, in one case, "neither religious nor christian," and in the other, an atheist.
Excellent post, Webmaster. I would only add that, because this is a local forum, there is a significant chance that posters will know one another and that their choice of anonymity should be respected.
I am all in favour of local celebrations and street parties. I just feel that it is a shame that they are so often associated with events concerning the royal family.
