This is really sad news. I saw this show up at the Warren car boot sale field a few years back and it was great entertainment. I guess a daredevil show brings with it a massive amount of risk, but this sounds like a dreadful tragedy and you wonder if it could have been avoided.
If the police have taken some positive action, then good - it's about time!! The problem is that these layabouts and louts have been allowed to annex part of the town centre for so long that it has become a standing joke, hence the 'happy hut' tag. I'd love to go to the consultation, but being 270 miles away and holding down a 9-5 makes it awkward. However, I know the good folk of Dawlish will turn out in numbers and have their say. As someone who visits Dawlish twice a year on holiday, I sincerely hope there will be no attempt to amalgamate the cycle route with the sea wall walking route. The peace and tranquility of walking along the sea wall – Dawlish’s unique selling point in my opinion – would be ruined forever if you were having to step aside for cyclists every 30 seconds.
