The Perseids are one of the best known annual meteor showers. Each year in mid-August, dust from the comet Swift-Tuttle falls on the Earth's northern hemisphere creating the light show. This year, the Perseids peak on August 13th. While the meteor shower is being somewhat obscured by the glare of a full moon, sky watchers spotted this fireball over El Paso, Texas, on August 5.
