VILLAGERS in Holcombe have celebrated the 80th anniversary of the parish church. Guest of honour was Mayor of Dawlish Cllr Lin Goodman-Bradbury. The church building dates back to 1867 when it was originally a school for the children of Holcombe village and a Chapel of Ease.

RESIDENTS in Dawlish have been assured that flower beds and trees ‘ripped up’ to make way for work on the town’s water improvement scheme will be replaced. South West Water’s multi-million pound scheme is moving at pace and contractors have removed large flower beds and palm trees as part of the project.

TRAINEE gardeners have been hard at work sprucing up flower beds around the Manor House in Dawlish. Dawlish Gardens Trust staff and trainees got their hands dirty planting beds in and around the town council’s headquarters.

BROKEN glass has been found on a children’s slide at a Dawlish play park. An early morning dog walker discovered a smashed bottle at the base of one of the slides at the Manor Gardens play park.

GAMES are now coming thick and fast for Newton Abbot Bowls Club members with some of the ladies progressing through in the county competitions. On Friday, May 3, Isobel Burley and Jane Otieno won their game in the Ladies Over 55s Minors County Pairs against a Dawlish Marina duo.

THE seaside towns of Dawlish and Teignmouth will continue to be represented by the Liberal Democrats at County Hall as the present incumbents for both are re-elected. Town and district councillor Rosie Dawson will now represent Dawlish at Devon County Council after winning today’s election [Friday, May 2].

Voters in Teignbridge have had their say in the 2025 local elections.

A violent woman beater from Devon has been jailed after a brutal attack on his former partner. Richard Williams, of Holman Close in Dawlish pleaded guilty to three assaults occasioning actual bodily harm, non-fatal strangulation and criminal damage.

Polling stations are open across Teignbridge today as residents cast their votes to decide the councillors that will represent them on Devon County Council.
