I think you need to look at the bigger picture Margeret the wall is also being extended eastwards not only will it protect the line it will also keep the town safe.
Carer - you should have gone to Specsavers! Oh well if it was breached in the 90s then there is an absolute necessity for the wall!! It was notable yesterday that the waves were still topping the new section so what is the point really?

I think you a wrong Margaret it has been breached and within the last 35 years.
In the nineties the wall was breached half way down Marine Parade, the stone ballast was all over the road, the line was shut and wire cages to hold the new ballast were installed. A similar thing (not so bad ) happened a few years later.
It's already an eyesore and that's before the graffiti gets daubed on it!! And on a stretch of line that have never been breached in 150 years!!
