Network Rail have submitted a scheme to install a 210m long rock fall shelter at Parsons Tunnel North, as well as providing additional safety netting on the cliffs If approved, the proposals, which are subject to funding confirmation from government, will see construction starting in August with the work expected to take around a year to complete. A rowdy drinker armed himself with a knife-like garden tool after getting involved in a row in the pub. He left the pub but returned a few minutes later armed with a garden tool saying he needed to protect himself and had felt 'humiliated'. Staff took it off him before police were called. From Monday 22 February, the promenade along the Marine Parade sea wall will be closed for five days. This is to allow us to carry out some additional work on the ramp at Town Gateway and the drainage along the wall. The footbridge by Kennaway Tunnel will remain open during this time, providing access to Boat Cove and the beach from this end.
