A new dental practice is to open on the Shutterton Industrial Estate, Dawlish. It's great news for people in the area who whant to sign up to a N.H.S dentist. Devon County Council has bought 100 pay-and-display parking meters at a cost of £290,000, despite being in the process of a public consultation. A lot of the new meters would replace some old ones. Police are warning dog owners to keep their dogs under control after two dogs have been destroyed after livestock were killed in the Teignbridge area. Other sheep in the Dawlish, Kenton and Easton have also been mained on farm land.

Exeter Crown Court were told a diary claimed to contain details of a major cocain trafficking ring. The accused Mathew Deny aged 46 was said to have used his Dawlish based furniture firm as a front for the £1.8 million drugs operation. A 70year-old pensioner from Dawlish has had charges against him dropped. The man pleaded not guilty to possessing a knife in a public place in Exeter at an earlier hearing at the Crown Court in October. The defendant did not attend the latest hearing at the Exeter Crown Court due to poor health and is now in a residential home in Dawlish.

A TOTAL of 33 jobs in Brixham, Paignton and Dawlish have been saved by the sale of greengrocers Stokes. Argyle Trading Limited has bought the three stores, together with two others, from the troubled independent chain which went into administration last week. According to the BBC, a further nine Stokes greengrocers have closed across the South West after failing to attract a buyer. The Bristol, Exeter, Falmouth, Honiton, Sherborne, Tavistock, Torquay, Totnes and Wadebridge stores have closed resulting in 72 redundancies.
